Sidewalk vote sparks protest
PORTLAND, Ore. - The city is voting on a new public sidewalk management plan and those who don't agree with the idea gathered in downtown Portland on Thursday in protest.
The city wants to designate 'pedestrian use zones' in an effort to keep sidewalks clear. The zones would be in the Rose Quarter, Lloyd Center and in downtown Portland.
In a pedestrian use zone, a major portion of the sidewalk would have to remain open.
