Rain forces Rose Festival organizers to close Waterfront Village
Weather

PORTLAND, Ore. - The weather has proved just too soggy for folks to be able to enjoy the rides down at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, so organizers have decided to shut down Waterfront Village.

The waterfront quickly turns into a muddy mess when heavy rain hits and with high rain totals expected in the next few days, it's not too big of a surprise that the village would end up getting closed.

Rose Festival organizer Jeff Curtis said they expect to reopen Waterfront Village on Thursday. They plan to make a firm decision by 8 a.m. If the park does open on Thursday, the admission fee will be waived.

Also, Curtis said the managers of Funtastik, the company that provides and operates the rides, have assured them the rides are completely safe, despite the rain.
